As I write this, I am deeply saddened to announce the passing of Asim Madibo, a respected and influential footballer who had been a fixture in the Nigerian Premier League for over ten years. Madibo was known for his technical skills, dribbling abilities, and ability to create space in the box, but he also excelled at the defensive end of the pitch.

Madibo suffered a severe injury during a match against the Ghana national team last month, which left him out of action for several weeks. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and is expected to be back on the field soon. At the time of his death, Madibo was one of the most decorated players in Nigeria's history, having won numerous awards including the African Player of the Year award and the Golden Boot award.

The loss of Madibo as well as other talented players like Isaac Oduah, Emmanuel Onyinye, and Nnamdi Azikiwe, has left a bitter taste in the mouths of many Nigerians. It is clear that injuries can take their toll and it will be a long time before we get back to the level of performance that Asim Madibo was capable of.
