Guendouzi, who was born in Senegal and grew up in France, joined Marseille in January 2019 from Ligue 2 side Troyes AC. He made his debut for the club in a 2-1 loss to Montpellier HSC on February 18, 2019.

The young midfielder quickly established himself as a key player for the club, making a total of 55 appearances for Marseille across all competitions during his time with the team. In addition to his impressive performances on the pitch, Guendouzi also became known for his leadership qualities and his willingness to take on challenges.
