Dimitri Payet, the Marseille winger who made his debut in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday, scored his first league goal for the club.

The 27-year-old, who joined Marseille from West Ham United in January, had been expected to make an impact at the Stade Vélodrome and he certainly delivered with his performance against Nice.

Payet was brought into the team to provide an attacking threat and he did not disappoint, scoring in just his second appearance for the club.

His goal came in the 84th minute, after he had received the ball inside the box and fired home a powerful shot that beat the goalkeeper.

It was a well-deserved reward for Payet's hard work and determination, as he has come up against some tough competition for places in the Marseille squad this season.

However, he is quickly making a name for himself and could be a key player for the club going forward.

Payet's goal will no doubt give him confidence going forward and he will be hoping to continue his good form in the coming weeks and months. He has already shown that he can score goals at the highest level and it will be interesting to see what kind of contribution he makes to the Marseille side this season.
